Attached is the Sponsorship form for our tournament Program
Sponsorship Opportunities are available for our State Championship, which will be held Sunday October 25th at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex. We will have 5 games of Rugby that day with the 3rd place game and the Final being held under the lights on the Stadium field. Please see below for Sponsor information in our tournament program. This is a perfect way for Collegiate Programs, parents of players, etc. to support the growth of girls HS Rugby. Divine Savior Varsity and Catholic Memorial both continue to dominate their league games and have established themselves as heavy favorites in their respective divisions. Brookfield and Oak Creek took a bus to Davenport University in Grand Rapids to play Warsaw and Penn and watch Davenport play Grand Valley State. UW Madison traveled to the Gun Club field on the Lakefront last Saturday to take on UW Milwaukee in a Women's Collegiate D1 game. UW Madison had 7 starters from our league and UW Milwaukee had 8. In a well played match UW Madison came out on top 33-22.
The game opened up with UW Madison Prop Lizzie Bellis (Catholic Memorial) scoring in the corner on a 15 meter run. She missed her own conversion to make the score 5-0. 10 minutes later UW Milwaukee flyhalf Erika Winner (Menomonee Falls) took a ball out of a ruck weak side and scampered 50 meters for a try. Winner stood out in the game directing a dangerous UW Milwaukee back-line. Lacey Engle converted the try for a 7-5 lead. The game went back and forth with UW Madison's strong forward pack making runs up the field while UW Milwaukee's backfield would quickly gain back ground. UW Madison Fullback, Jenny Glaser, who was dynamic with ball in hand playing from the Fullback position, raced for a 50 meter try to put UW Madison up 12-7. UW Madison Scrumhalf Talyor Rozman (Kettle Moraine) and wing Liz "Lava" Vaala scored tries to push the score to 26-7 with 10 minutes to go in the 1st half. Just before half-time Samantha Dunn (Vernon) scored a try to close the gap to 26-12 at intermission. The 2nd half was even for the 1st 20 minutes until Flanker Lizzie Jacobson (Catholic Memorial) scooped up a loose ball and made a run before off-loading to wing Mary Beidlingmaier (Catholic Memorial) for a 40 meter try to close the gap to 26-17. With 10 minutes left in the game UW Madison's Lizzie Bellis, who moved from Prop to Inside Center, cut inside and beat the Fullback for a 25 meter try. Bellis made her 4th conversion in 5 attempts to make the score 33-17. UW Milwaukee's Olivia Oddis (Oak Creek) finished the scoring near the end of the game for a final score of 33-22. Overall it was an evenly played match and well played by both teams. UW Madison plays Iowa State (1-0) in Madison at 11:00AM this Saturday while UW Milwaukee has a bye. You can follow the league on their FB page at https://www.facebook.com/MWD1rugby?fref=ts Catholic Memorial - 48 points vs Pulaski 0 Pulaski came down Friday after school and CMH hosted a dinner at the high school when they arrived. Afterwards both teams played an exhibition 7's match at halftime of the varsity high school football game at Carroll University. Pulaski players stayed overnight with the CMH girls and then played their conference match Saturday morning. Pulaski played hard but CMH was very disciplined in their rucking and poached a fair amount of balls in the loose play. The Senior led team disciplined and possession led to scores as CMH swung the ball from sideline to sideline. Scoring for the Crusaders were Ellie Metz, Lizzy Walicki, Kelsey Gustafson, Allison Koenig, Tatum Straw, and Katie Zettel, although many other players on both sides played at least as important roles in the match then the ones who touched down. Brookfield - 20 vs Fond du Lac - 5 In a hard fought match Brookfield ended up beating Fond du Lac 20 to 5. Nicky Lehto and Anna Watry touched down for Brookfield in the 1st half to give them a 10-0 lead. Emyli Kreiser scored a try to open up the 2nd half for Brookfield to make the score 15-0. Fond du Lac flyhalf Alaina Passarella broke a 70 meter run to pull Fondy within 10 points until Brookfield scrumhalf Sam Jensen took a ball off of a ruck, fed Crystal Jehly who off-loaded to Sam Bartz-Kolp for a 60 meter try to put the game away. Fond du Lac’s inside game was difficult for Brookfield to handle as Prop Emma Conrad and Liz Stanchfield made punishing runs. In the end Brookfield’s outside speed was enough to get them the victory. Appleton – 20 vs Kettle Moraine - 0 Appleton had a full side while KM only had 12 because of homecoming so by league rules the game was a forfeit win for Appleton (13 players required to start a game). The teams decided to go ahead and play the game 12 vs 15. The score was 15-14 in Appleton’s favor as time expired. On KM’s last possession Emily Becker scored her 3rd try of the game. Morgan Saenz then kicked her 3rd conversion of the game for what would have been a 21-15 victory for KM if they had enough players. Jordyn Gaurkee, Kaitlyn Schoepel and Carly Tonor scored tries for Appleton. The ref stated that he would like to thank the fans, teams, and coaching staff for an amazing amount of respect and communication. DSHA Varsity – 70 vs. Brookfield JV - 0 DSHA has started the season very strong with 70+ point efforts the first 2 games. Senior Fullback/flyhalf Meg Walker led DSHA while Scrumhalf Genovive Ruesch did a fantastic job of running the attack. Oak Creek – 68 vs Muskego 20 Muskego rucked well and stole away the ball in breakdowns, especially in the second half. Their scrum half [ask Muskego's coaches for her name] moved the ball effectively, and most of Muskego's attacking power came from their pack. Oak Creek’s backline proved too much for Muskego to handle as they were able to break several long runs around the edge of Muskego's defense, notably a 100-meter scamper by by senior prop Kiersten Czarnecki. Prop Izzy Blawat also had a few big runs on the day, including a break-out from a 15-meter maul in the middle of the pitch. Tries were scored for Oak Creek by Olivia Culver, Natalie Paradise, Kiersten Czarnecki, Gabby Larson, Amanda Delikat, Megan Bird, Sydney Raedel, Meghan Galaszewski, Abby Larch, and Erin Coburn, with conversions added by Liz Grall and Abby Larch. Pulaski 45 Oak Creek 15 Oak Creek traveled up to Pulaski on Wednesday night. Oak Creek got off to a fast start and put up tries by Abby Larch and Megan Bird (2) before Pulaski scored during a multi-phase possession on Oak Creek's side of the field with a couple of minutes to go in the first half, leaving the score 15-5 in Oak Creek’s favor. The second half was all Pulaski, which put up eight (I think) consecutive tries, including a kickoff return for a score. Chris Kurth, Oak Creek Caoch stated, “Pulaski looks great, especially for a first year team. There are some positioning issues but they are aggressive runners and ruckers and show solid fundamentals.” Referee, James Highfield Stated, “Both coaches were great. Oak Creek's coach should be commended for encouraging the spirit of rugby and by getting most/all of his girls into the game (they traveled with 26). Pulaski's coach should also be commended for allowing this to occur to help build numbers and interest in the game. The first half was a clean, well played game. Pulaski took control in the second half when replacement players entered the match.” Catholic Memorial 68 Oak Creek Knights 0 Oak Creek joins Catholic Memorial and Divine Savior as the latest Varsity High School programs in the league. As such they have excellent numbers this Fall with 35 players on the roster. They are a young team led by Atlantis veteran and two year WI U19 All-Star Megan Bird. They played against a Senior led Catholic Memorial squad that is much healthier than they were last Spring. Both coaches reported that it was a clean game with CMH controlling possession and using the entire width of the field as they transitioned from phase to phase. Oak Creek players Meghan Galaszewski, Erin Coburn, Megan Bird, and Amanda Delikat had excellent games tackling. Try scorers for CMH were Ellie Metz, Lizzy Walicki, Allison Koenig, Maddie Donnelly, Katie Mcginn, Kate Chapman. Conversions were made by Meaghan Schmitt and Zeyra Medina and Meghan Schmitt added a penalty kick. Both teams played a B side Seven's match with CMH winning 25-5. CMH try scorers were Stephanie Wilson, Maddie Donnelly, Katie Zettel. Brookfield Varsity 58 Appleton Dragons 10 Brookfield raced out to a 31-0 lead at halftime and pulled away for a 58-10 victory at Lion's Park in Appleton. Appleton played well at the breakdown, stealing a significant amount of ball but Brookfield's outside speed was too much to handle. Try scorers for Brookfield were Areliz Rivera (3), Nicky Lehto, Rayne Deffenbaugh, Junior Abby Andler (2), Aiyanna Primer (2), and Sammy Jensen. Anna Watry and Raquel Galarza were both 2 for 5 on conversion. DSHA Varsity 71 Fond du Lac Sirens 10 DHSA looked as strong as ever with returning WI U19 All-Stars Meg Walker, Sarah Clarke and Maeve Hanley leading the way. Pulaski 27 DSHA JV 5 Our league's newest team won their first league game against a very young DSHA JV team. Try scorers for Pulaski were Savannah Davies (2), Emily Morris, Cassi McQuillan, and Danielle Mahalski. Gaby Russel was 1 for 5 on conversions. Kettle Moraine Knightmares 27 Brookfield JV 10 Congratulations are in order for Knightmare's coach Megan Kevin on her wedding that took place on Saturday. In her absence her team, led by WI U19 All-Star Emily Becker's 3 tries easily beat Brookfield's JV team. Kettle Moraine was very disciplined at the breakdown and had a dynamic backline. Muskego 20 Vernon Harlequins 0 Vernon was short numbers so the game was recorded as a forfeit and they played a spirited game of 10's. Vernon recorded 8 tries and made 1 conversion. Muskego had 5 tries and 0 conversions and the final score was 42 to 25. Muskego scores came from Junior prop Nikki Laffin, Junior center Lauren Wahlen, Senior scrumhalf Ally Rusch and Senior center Jolyssa Kotarak (2). |
