Wisconsin Girls Rugby is the organizing body for high school girls rugby in Wisconsin and dedicated to providing a positive, competitive and healthy rugby experience for all our student athletes, families and volunteers! As an association of our local teams we help to:
■ Coordinate league competitions and match schedules
■ Organize our annual state tournament
■ Support coaching development with grants to support coaching training for member teams
■ Support representation from Wisconsin girls rugby at the Midwest and National levels
■ Provide a network for coaches to share best practices and information to our varied member clubs
High School Girls Rugby began with one team in 1996 and Wisconsin hosted the first ever Girls High School National Invitational Tournament in Milwaukee in 1999 and grew into a league of four teams by 2001. Over the years, five different Wisconsin teams (DSHA, CMHS, Brookfield, Vernon, and Kettle Moraine) have placed in the top 2 in the Midwest, and have gone on to compete in the National Tournament. We currently boast a league of 12 teams. Wisconsin Rugby has a lot of which to be proud! If you are interested in getting involved in supporting the continued growth of girls rugby in Wisconsin, don’t hesitate to contact any of our board members listed below.
