Oak Creek joins Catholic Memorial and Divine Savior as the latest Varsity High School programs in the league. As such they have excellent numbers this Fall with 35 players on the roster. They are a young team led by Atlantis veteran and two year WI U19 All-Star Megan Bird. They played against a Senior led Catholic Memorial squad that is much healthier than they were last Spring.
Both coaches reported that it was a clean game with CMH controlling possession and using the entire width of the field as they transitioned from phase to phase. Oak Creek players Meghan Galaszewski, Erin Coburn, Megan Bird, and Amanda Delikat had excellent games tackling.
Try scorers for CMH were Ellie Metz, Lizzy Walicki, Allison Koenig, Maddie Donnelly, Katie Mcginn, Kate Chapman. Conversions were made by Meaghan Schmitt and Zeyra Medina and Meghan Schmitt added a penalty kick.
Both teams played a B side Seven's match with CMH winning 25-5. CMH try scorers were Stephanie Wilson, Maddie Donnelly, Katie Zettel.
Brookfield Varsity 58 Appleton Dragons 10
Brookfield raced out to a 31-0 lead at halftime and pulled away for a 58-10 victory at Lion's Park in Appleton. Appleton played well at the breakdown, stealing a significant amount of ball but Brookfield's outside speed was too much to handle. Try scorers for Brookfield were Areliz Rivera (3), Nicky Lehto, Rayne Deffenbaugh, Junior Abby Andler (2), Aiyanna Primer (2), and Sammy Jensen. Anna Watry and Raquel Galarza were both 2 for 5 on conversion.
DSHA Varsity 71 Fond du Lac Sirens 10
DHSA looked as strong as ever with returning WI U19 All-Stars Meg Walker, Sarah Clarke and Maeve Hanley leading the way.
Pulaski 27 DSHA JV 5
Our league's newest team won their first league game against a very young DSHA JV team. Try scorers for Pulaski were Savannah Davies (2), Emily Morris, Cassi McQuillan, and Danielle Mahalski. Gaby Russel was 1 for 5 on conversions.
Kettle Moraine Knightmares 27 Brookfield JV 10
Congratulations are in order for Knightmare's coach Megan Kevin on her wedding that took place on Saturday. In her absence her team, led by WI U19 All-Star Emily Becker's 3 tries easily beat Brookfield's JV team. Kettle Moraine was very disciplined at the breakdown and had a dynamic backline.
Muskego 20 Vernon Harlequins 0
Vernon was short numbers so the game was recorded as a forfeit and they played a spirited game of 10's. Vernon recorded 8 tries and made 1 conversion. Muskego had 5 tries and 0 conversions and the final score was 42 to 25. Muskego scores came from Junior prop Nikki Laffin, Junior center Lauren Wahlen, Senior scrumhalf Ally Rusch and Senior center Jolyssa Kotarak (2).
